Gingerbread Men Sugar Scrubs
I don't know about you, but I love giving gifts around Christmas time. I love being able to see the joy that opening a present gives someone - especially when it's something they've always wanted or they were expecting anything from me. But all of those gifts can add up...really quick. So over the years, I've tried to find unique gifts that are something that someone wouldn't purchase for themselves, something that I could make, and something that won't make me go over my Christmas gift budget.
This year, I thought I'd try these cute little gingerbread man sugar scrubs. They're the perfect gift for my kids' teachers and my photography clients. They're a great exfoliate for the skin and they're sure to make you smile when you see them.
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup goat's milk or shea butter soap base
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice (or something similar)
- a gingerbread mold (like this one by Wilton)
Step One. Cut the soap base into one inch (or smaller pieces) and put into a microwave safe bowl. Melt the soap base in the microwave until smooth.
Step Two. Add in the coconut oil and vanilla extract. Stir until completely mixed ans smooth.
Step Three. Now, you'll have to work quickly. Add in the brown sugar and spices. Mix until well combined.
Step Four. Press the mixture into the molds. You'll want to firmly pack it and make sure all of the air is out of it.
Step Five. Place the tray in the freezer for at least 15 minutes. When they're nice and firm, pop them out and they're good to go. I chose to put mine in some red crinkle paper and gold metal buckets to add a festiveness to it.
